Joanna of Hainault (1315–1374) was the third daughter of William I, Count of Hainaut, and Joanna of Valois. She was a younger sister of Philippa of Hainault, Queen of England, and Margaret II of Hainault. She was the Duchess of Jülich by marriage. == Family == Her maternal uncle was Philip VI of France. She was close in age to her sister Philippa, who married Edward III of England and was the mother of Edward the Black Prince and John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster. Philippa was the grandmother of Richard II of England, making Joanna his great-aunt. Her elder brother was William II, Count of Hainaut, who succeeded their father, but William died childless so he was succeeded by Joanna's elder sister Margaret II, Countess of Hainault. Margaret married Holy Roman Emperor Louis IV and bore him ten children, including Louis VI the Roman and William I, Duke of Bavaria.
